Celebrity Vegetarians / Vegans

What do Adele, Woody Harrelson, Ellen Degeneres and Ricky Gervais have in common other than being talented? They all follow a vegan or vegetarian diet! At Hugo’s Burger Bar, we don’t want any beef with meat-eaters nor vegetarians, which is why we cater to different dietary choices without compromising on flavour or quality. In today’s blog, Hugo Chetcuti’s team shares but a few of the many celebrities who have chosen to go meat-free.

1. Natalie Portman

The academy award-winning actress has been vegetarian for most of her life and vegan for the past six years. She credited her vegan diet for her radiant complexion, claiming since she cut out meat, her skin has never broken out. In fact, dairy is a major cause of acne and is in fact almost non-existent in non-milk drinking countries outside the West. The actress is also a keen advocate for sustainable living, humanitarian issues and animal rights.

2. Pamela Anderson

The blonde bombshell and long-time animal activist is known to have taken part in hundreds of PETA initiatives and has even launched a vegan shoe line. She dished out vegetarian Thanksgiving dinners to homeless families at a Las Vegas shelter and served lunch to inmates in the first all-vegetarian U.S. jail – Maricopa County Jail. Vegan has never been sexier.

3. Moby

From launching vegan festivals to relentlessly promoting veganism on social media sites, the musician and restauranteur has devoted a large part of his life to the cause. Not only has he been vegan for almost 30 years, he even opened a vegan restaurant in LA called Little Pine, donating all the profits to animal rights charities such as Mercy For Animals. He has even announced that all profits from his latest album and upcoming shows will be given to animal rights organisations.

4. Paul McCartney

At 75-year old, the Rockstar credits the plant-based diet he follows for his younger appearance, having followed a vegetarian lifestyle since the 1970s before turning vegan. He sometimes even demands that only vegan food be served at his show and refuses to perform if any meat is served backstage. The ex-Beatle has long been among the most prominent celebrities to demonstrate massive commitment to animal advocacy.

5. Venus Williams

Williams, known for her incredible power and athleticism, was diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome – a debilitating, incurable autoimmune disease that causes excessive fatigue. Doctors recommended a raw vegan diet, which she follows quite strictly, particularly during the tennis season.

Among other notable mentions are Ellie Goulding, Ariana Grande, Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto, Ricky Gervais, Russell Brand, Ruby Rose and Liam Hemsworth.

Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian or are craving meat-free food, Hugo Chetcuti invites you to pop by Hugo’s Burger Bar to try our mouth-watering veggie burger, with a patty made from ingredients such as quinoa, sweet potato, black zucchini, which is coated in panko breadcrumbs and topped with mixed leaves and tzatziki dressing.
