Celebrity Chefs and Their Favourite Burgers

Nobody appreciates a perfect patty more than some of the most experienced culinary artists around. Just because Michelin Star chefs spend the majority of their time thinking up fancy new recipes to wow their patrons, doesn’t mean that they don’t enjoy sitting down to some warm comfort food every now and then. Here are a few favourite burger toppings and sauces from a few of the top experts in the industry, brought to you by Hugo Chetcuti and team.

Gordon Ramsay

When he’s not busy yelling expletives at his terrified kitchen novices on TV, Ramsay is known to indulge in fast food at home or when on the road. His favourite burger joint is reported to be In-N-Out Burger in Los Angeles, where he is currently living. He once enjoyed a meal there so much that not only did he hoover two cheeseburgers in just 15 minutes – he also drove back and ordered another as takeaway to eat at home!

Anthony Bourdain

This famous chef and TV personality has a number of favourite burger outlets – including In-N-Out and Shake Shack in New York City. His rules for the perfect burger are very simple: (1) the cheese has to be processed and meltable (2) the potato bun has to be soft and squishy (3) the beef must be of good quality and well ground.

Adam Richman

He may have been professionally trained as a sushi chef, however Richman is best known these days for his outrageous stunts in the past on the show Man vs Food. According to him, a burger is nothing without a good cheese to complete the topping – whether it’s Gruyere, Swiss or Bleu. He can’t go without all the traditional ingredients: tomato, lettuce, onions and ketchup are a must. No cheddar, however – unless it’s served with bacon!

Andrew Zimmern

Although – or perhaps because – most of his time is spent exploring some truly disgusting and strange cuisine on his show Bizarre Foods, Zimmern is partial to a good burger every now and then. To him, there’s nothing better than a “black and blue” burger cooked Pittsburgh style, complete with a charred taste and crusty texture surrounding both the bun and patty.

Maneet Chauhan

You’ll usually spot Chauhan as one of the judges on the Food Network’s TV series Chopped. She particularly enjoys burgers with what she calls a “Southwestern twist” – patties served with a topping of salsa, guacamole, caramelised onions and tortilla chips.
